Identi.ca is another page to update your status and make it public. Once you make your account you have access to a profile which have an empty space to the top to write any message you want. Each message has a limit of 140 characters. You can add links (which are "do follow" to bring more relevance to the linked pages on search engines), share files and your location.

The service lets you connect your updates with other social networking sites. In addition, you can invite people to become members of Identi.ca. You can get followers on the site so it gives you the opportunity to attract visitors to your blogs and sites.

Pocketmod.com is an online app to print the days notes. That allows you to carry and organize them in any way you want. The site Pocketmod.com receives you with an explanation of what is the site about. To the right of the window you will see an option that says "Start". Once you select it you will be directed to a new window where the app is located.

To the left you will have options such as calendar, organizers, reference, writing guides, among others. Each one has a variety of options. For example, the writing guide one has tabs like a paper with lines, a paper with a large, medium or small grid, story board, and so on.

IMDB.com is a site to know everything about movies, not just about those that have been released before but the ones that are on their way.

The all-movies searcher

At the top of the screen IMDB.com you will find a search engine to get detailed information about movies of the past and the present. By entering a search result you will see an image of the respective film and a brief synopsis, the year in which it was released, the director, among other details.

You can vote for each film. Moreover, the site has a renowned movie ranking that takes into account the votes of the people to select the best movies ever.

Each film is reviewed and accompanied with photos, biographies of actors, promotional trailers, among many other interesting aspects.

The site greets you with a presentation of photographs of the most notorious films of the moment. On the right of the screen of IMDB.com you will have access to sections that talk you about upcoming movies, which are in theaters starting this week, etc.

Tuppy is a social networking site that lets you connect your content between many social networks (Twitter, YouTube, etc). Once you have created your account on the site you can start posting messages as you do on Facebook: you have a box to write what you like and add pictures, links, and so on.

To the left of the screen you will have a menu with options such as Activity (your activity on the account), where you can post messages and My Social Networks to connect your updates of Tuppy with other social networks; on the tab My Messages you can find private messages sent to you.

You will also have options for photos, videos, music and to find friends.

Something I noticed is that the links you put in your posted messages are "do follow" which means that search engines follow the links to give more importance to the pages where these links are directed. The same thing happens on Identi.ca (a similar site). This represents an additional incentive for those who like to spread their voice over the network.

By registering on the site it will ask you to verify your account via a code sent to you by email. You just need to copy and paste it into the respective space.

Trogy is a search engine that allows you to search the web in languages such as English, Spanish and German. As Google or Bing, it has a blank space to write the keywords and a menu at the top to show results only for images, audio, videos, news, websites, etc.

Something attractive in this search engine is that when you search websites it will display a thumbnail of each site. This goes along with the page title, description and URL.

Search engines have tried to be more original, taking into account the preponderance of Google, Yahoo and Bing. Take as an example wolframalpha.com which is an encyclopedic searcher.

What is the oldest website, or the first website? The answer is a bit fuzzy if you try to find what is the oldest site in history. I expected to find the answer in Yahoo Answers, or Wikipedia, but I had to get information in a deeper way.

This link will refer you to one of the most accurate answers to be found. It says that the first site was nxoc01.cern.ch. When trying to enter the page you will see that it is offline, or it no longer exists.

Though you can enter to info.cern.ch , site maintained by Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau and which is listed as the site of the first web server. The site had as a server a Tim's computer, and it ran in a computer of the same person.

However, others speak of Symbolics.com . Moreover, if you visit this page you will see that it calls itself the first and oldest ".com" on the Internet.

There are also indications of the Microsoft website especially because this company made the Internet Explorer which is quite old. But here's another aspect: the debate on which was the first Internet browser. One might suggest to Internet Explorer, but experts on the matter mention the browser called NCSA Mosaic. On Wikipedia we have enough information of this browser.

The fact that the Internet Explorer is not the first Web browser takes away some strength to the assumption that the Microsoft website was the first to exist.

Perhaps the question of what is the first website is also too open. What was the first one open to the public? This is because some sites may have existed before in a trial version and only a few developers could enter them.

"Psst... The new version of Twitter is here!" is the message that appears on Twitter when you start your session in order to switch to the new version of the page automatically.

This new Twitter was announced a few weeks ago and among its new features you will see the new columns of updates, timeline of Tweets, retweets, searches and lists, which are on one page now, so you do not need to switch from one window to another to see such updates.
