ESPN announced that the 2012's ESPN The Magazine's "NEXT" Cover Athlete is Cam Newton.

The issue will be on newsstands on Friday, December 30, and features profiles of young athletes such as Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton, Miami Marlins Rightfielder Mike Stanton, Kentucky Wildcats Forward Anthony Davis, Edmonton Oilers Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, FC Dallas and Team USA Midfielder Brek Shea, snowboarder Jess Kimura, LPGA’s Yani Tseng, and WTA’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and others.
